Peter Asselyn - a spinster of the highest order - accepted a challenge to turn a chunk from start to stop in one evening without having the benefit of studying the piece previously.
He ended up using some very dry cherry burl donated by Bob Morrill.
Peter is the only guy I know who mounts the spinning tool on the lathe and then holds the wood in his bare hands.
The piece is mounted and ready for initial cuts.
It’s off to the dust bowl!
Getting the form “just right”
