Club Vice-President Peter McCrea took us through an exciting and very technical demonstration of his inlaid boxes.
These are boxes that “pop”!
In this shot Peter is getting the lid’s flange to an exact dimension.
When he’s close to his mark, he switches from steel to sandpaper to get it just right.
Peter says the inside flange of the box cannot have even the slightest taper. To achieve this, he uses a simple line level taped to a square nosed scraper. He holds the tool level, and parallel with the ways.
This keeps the flange taperless and square to the box.
Peter is unaware that the Celtics are about to win in double overtime.
No, Burt Truman isn’t phasing into another dimension. It’s just two shots stitched together.
Peter finally finds out about what the Celtics are doing.
Peter waxes philosophically about the merits of watching basketball while turning.
Tweaking the speed.

The Show and Tell stuff will have to wait.
Those inside out turnings are Al Mather’s.
Nice grain on that big bowl!
Sorry folks, I can’t think of a single smart aleck remark for this photo.
Al Mather seems happy now, but wait until he remembers that next month is his turn to demo.
