Chapter member Bob Biette gave the demonstration for our March 2004 meeting.
His presentation tonight was titled, “A Simple Green Turned Bowl”.

The overriding focus of the demonstration was safety. Bob told the club a story about a bowl he was turning just a few days ago; and related how it flew apart with one piece barely missing his face shield and another embedding itself in the wall of his shop.
|
|
|
Proper safety gear, especially face protection are at the top of Bob’s list. Next in line is the absolute neccessity of working only with sharp tools.
|
|
|
He also warned of “found wood” that often has dangerous surprises buried deep within.
|
|
|
With proper protection and a sharp Irish Grind Bob is the picture of contentment.
|

Show and Tell
|
|
As long time members will recall, member Mac Ray used to do a quickie photo shoot of all items brought in for Show and Tell.
Mac was generous enough to send these images to me the other day.
But, neither he nor I know who turned them. If you do, let me know and I’ll quickly post the information.
